Tea Tree may possibly become the most talked about Essential Oil. It has antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. It is used to treat infections, ringworm, sunburn, acne, toothaches, and athlete's foot. As a treatment for ringworm, use 1 drop of Tea Tree Essential Oil over the infected area 3 times a day up to 10 days or when the infected area is clear. Once the ringworm is clear, mix 30 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and apply to the area daily. For athlete's foot, mix up 2 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil with 1 drop of Lavender Essential Oil. Soak up the mixture on a cotton ball and smear in-between the toes. Take 5 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil and add with 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil. Add the mixture to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and massage all over the feet, especially around the toes and nails.
Clove Essential Oil has antibacterial, antiseptic, and analgesic properties. It is exceptional for the prevention of disease and infection. It is useful to treat asthma, nausea, and sinusitis. Clove is used for the sterilization of surgical instruments. Be weary: Do not use undiluted on the skin.
Lemon is an antiseptic and an antibacterial. It is useful for insect bites, tension headaches, and wrinkles, and helps disperse cellulite. It has a fresh stimulating scent that freshens and cleanses the air.

Lavender is probably considered the most versatile of all Essential Oils. It is very useful for burns and scalds, abrasions, is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, and detoxifier. It promotes healing, prevents scarring and stimulates the immune system to heal. When using Lavender for burns, the most important thing to do first is assess the damage. For serious burns, second degree or third degree burns, go to your nearest hospital for treatment. For minor burns, Lavender can speed the healing process and reduce scarring which will reduce the pain and damage to the skin. Apply ice-cold water to the infected area for about 10 minutes. Apply 2 drops of Lavender Essential Oil directly on the burn. Place 5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil to a dry cold compress and cover the infected area. Repeat as needed.
Chamomile Essential Oil is a disinfectant, an antiseptic, and an antibacterial. It's greatest value comes from its anti-inflammatory properties. Use Chamomile Essential Oil to treat rheumatism and other external inflammations. Chamomile is also useful for diarrhea, sprains and strains, burns, sunburn, psoriasis, eczema, asthma, hay fever, nausea and fever. In skin care, a facial with Chamomile is soothing. Boil a pot of water and add to a glass bowl. Allow to cool slightly before adding 5 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil. With a towel over your head, place your face over the steaming bowl for about 5 minutes. For dry and/or sensitive skin, add 6 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil to 2 tablespoons of your favorite base oil. Massage into your face for a soothing and soft skin conditioning. For a relaxing and soothing warm bath, add 5 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil to 1 tablespoon of Sweet Almond Oil right after you have filled the tub. Soak for 15-20 minutes and wrap in a warm towel when done.
Geranium Essential Oil is very useful for menopausal problems and throat infections and makes a great nerve tonic. It has antiseptic and astringent properties which can be applied to many conditions from frostbite to infertility. Its most appealing quality is its wonderful aroma. When frostbite conditions are evident, massage infected area with 5 drops of Geranium Essential Oil. As the area warms, mix 4 drops Geranium with 2 drops of Clove Essential Oil diluted in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and massage the infected area again.
Rosemary is a physical and mental stimulant which makes it useful for a morning bath or as a treatment for tired sore muscles. It is also useful for treating sprains, arthritis, rheumatism, depression, fatigue, headaches, coughs and flu. Rosemary is exceptional for hair care. Be weary: Do not use Rosemary if you have high blood pressure.

Peppermint has many health promoting properties. It is an anti-inflammatory and an antiseptic. It is useful for bad breath, flu, varicose veins, headaches, migraines, skin irritations, toothache, and fatigue. A great treatment for varicose veins: massage the legs gently from the ankle to the thigh with a mixture of 15 drops of Geranium Essential Oil with 5 drops of Cypress Essential Oil. Dilute the 20 drop mixture in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. You may also try adding 2 drops of Geranium and 2 drops of Cypress Essential Oils to your bath at the same time. For hemorrhoids, mix up 15 drops of Geranium Essential Oil with 5 drops of Cypress Essential Oil and add to a small tube of K-Y Jelly. Just squeeze all the K-Y into a small container and mix in the Essential Oils. Rub around the anal area as needed to relieve symptoms and also to prevent the growth of new hemorrhoids. Peppermint Oil is exceptional as a deterrant for mice, ants, and fleas. Soak cotton balls with a few drops of Peppermint Oil and place in nooks and crannies within the home, or add a few drops to cotton strips and hang inside windows to deter ants and other insects.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil cools down the body during the summer months and warms it up during the winter months. It has deodorizing, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, analgesic, and diuretic properties. It is most commonly used for coughs, colds, and flu-like symptoms but it also is useful for treating candida, cystitis, and sunburn. It is great as an insect repellant.
